After examining the given circumstance I have come to a few main points about it, I will try to use them in my performance so that we can create a piece that is as realistic as we can possibly make it. The following is what I must take into account:
The story of the play
It's facts, events, epoch, time and place of action
Conditions of life
The actors and regisseur's (director's) interpretation
The production, sets, costumes, the properties
Lighting and sound effects
Including these will also help with our performance.

Props, Costumes and Staging
Although we have not yet got all of our props together, we have began to visualise what we are going to have and where it's going to be. We do have our stage and also we have a few old shelving units that whilst turned around give the impression of a pretty realistic bar scene. We also have a table and two chairs for where mine and Whitney's characters can sit.
Although that's as far as our current prop design has gone, for the performance we plan to get some cheap pint and wine glasses to be thrown across the stage by Jess (the barmaid) when she gets angry. We will get those as well as a box full of broken glass so that it can be shaken off stage to create the effect that the few glasses that Jess has thrown has created a large mess.
My character will be wearing something that you would stereotypically find a working class person wearing, although i have not yet decided on a final outfit I plan on basing my costume on that and going from there. Both Whitney (playing Leslie) and I have decided to base our costumes from the popular TV drama shameless, this will create a much more worn down appearance to our apparel.

Characterisation
We have concerntrated on our characters; how they act, stand, talk walk as well as all aspects conceivable for our characters. We examined these whilst keeping Stanislavski's system in mind, we used 'the magic if' to help us with our reactions and how we show our characters on stage.
My character stand upright, looking down at everyone. Whilst he walks, he moves slowly along the stage, he snaps at Leslie his girlfriend but also talks slowly, contemplating what to say next.
When Roy snaps, he uses physical aggression to dominate Leslie, he pulls her hair and graps her face to show his power. This is how my character keeps his girlfriend in check because he can't keep her in any other way. His insecurities are presented to him and in order to push them away, he exerts anger on other.

Overview
It is important that I know as much as possible about my play so that I can create the most realistic performance that I can for the audience.
The piece that we have chosen to perform is named 'Two' written by Jim Cartwright, I play Roy, he is a cold and manipulative bully. He see's his girlfriend Leslie as his property and makes it known to her and everyone else, he makes her dress down so that no-one looks at her. He sits comfortably because he doesn't care about what anyone else thinks about him, he dominates Leslie trying to control how she acts. He doesn't care about boundaries and gets very close to Leslie, this is to taunt and intimidate her. He speaks slowly and snaps when pushed only a little way, he uses physical force at the end as he feels that he is losing control.
It is important to know these facts about my character as knowing these helps me adhere to the rules of Stanislavski's system and of the given circumstance.
